My Writing

"The way I write is who I am, or have become."

-Joan Didion

My writing has been featured in several literary magazines, including The Mystery Tribune, Dark Matter Magazine, The Hoxie Gorge Review, and The Centrifictionist Magazine. I've also been featured in several short story anthologies.

Something Blue

Forthcoming in December 2024

Short story in "Horror that Represents You" anthology by Brigid's Gate Press

My tweed set gets soaked with mist and heavy with mud. I struggle out of the blazer and unzip my stained skirt, then pull the bobby pins out of my hair to let it tumble to my shoulders. My skin glistens in the condensation as I stand on the riverbank in my white bra and panty girdle, watching my clothes swirl away into the depths of the Penobscot River. The mud isn’t cold beneath my bare feet, it’s actually quite pleasant. An owl hoots, but I don’t cower in shame, because it feels good to own my own skin.

I wait for the sun to make its ascent, but daylight never comes. I wait for my legs to grow weary, but they crave the exertion. I wait for my limbs to start shaking with exhaustion, but I feel nothing. I try to out-walk my fear of a life of Hamburger Helper and David’s crude jokes. I walk until I can barely remember his name. Until I can hardly recall my own. I walk until my feet grow tough and callused, in desperate need of a pedicure. I walk until I forget what a pedicure is.

The Vampire Facial

Short story published by The Mystery Tribune

Re-print published by Dark Matter Magazine

Friendship poured over me like blood from a fresh wound, and I basked in its warmth. We were young, ravenous, and growing more insatiable with every passing day. We partied in mansions so stately that Versailles itself would be jealous. There were half-remembered confidences and half-believed lies. Men watched from the periphery as we took photos of each other in the shallows. I found peace at the bottom of a bottle of Dom Pérignon and ordered redemption with my eggs benedict. I’d always felt like an outsider, but here at the VIP table, I finally belonged.

But one night, my Louboutins faltered.

The Half-Moon Casita

Short story published by Brigid's Gate Press in an anthology

Praise for The Half-Moon Casita: "A gothic for our times. The isolated setting, the silence of the surroundings, all chosen for the purposes of Instagram. It provides an analysis of self and relationships and the silence between people which is brought to a head by a ghostly presence." - Stephanie Ellis
